For over 5 years, we have been providing support and a sense of dignity to those experiencing financial hardship.With a commitment to sustainability and community welfare, we continue to expand our reach and services. Who We Are
About UsThe Community Closet opened in late 2020, initially bringing 100 gifts to 100 kids during the pandemic. Since then, we’ve grown from strength to strength, with demand increasing year on year. We are a non-profit, volunteer-led organisation dedicated to supporting those impacted by the cost of living crisis, people with no recourse to public funds, and those seeking to live a more sustainable lifestyle.Our mission is to make essential clothing and items accessible to everyone in the Hackney community, regardless of their financial situation. We don’t have eligibility criteria, as we believe that support should be available to all who need it. In addition, we ensure that every children's clothing bundle includes free toys and books — acknowledging that these are luxuries many families are struggling to provide.
What We Do
Our ServicesClothing Distribution: We offer free clothing to those in need, no questions asked.Sustainability: We encourage recycling and reuse by accepting donations of pre-loved clothing, toys, books & home-ware and giving them a second life.Emergency Assistance: For those facing immediate hardship, we offer emergency clothing provisions.
